🇮🇳 Narain Karthikeyan

Karthikeyan is a professional endurance racer graded FIA Gold, placing him among the full-professional tier in sportscar and GT racing. He competes across multiple series; his most recent indexed season was 2019 Super GT, where he drove for Modulo Nakajima Racing. He is currently active in Asian Le Mans Series, Le Mans Cup and Road to Le Mans, racing for Team Virage and Ajith Redant Racing.[1]

His career spans from 1998 to the present across ten seasons of indexed racing. He contested 46 Formula 1 starts between 2005 and 2012, all for HRT, a team that fielded 19 drivers across the index without a race win. In Super GT, his strongest showing came in 2019 when he took a podium finish and ended the season 13th in the championship. He has also raced in the FIA GT Championship and Formula 3 Macau, taking a podium in the latter.[2]

Karthikeyan's Formula 1 career placed him among drivers of varying calibre; he finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton once and Nico Hülkenberg once. However, his regular opponents in that series were established and elite professionals such as Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, against whom he typically finished behind. His professional grading and endurance racing credentials reflect his standing across the single-class and multiclass championships he has entered, where he competes in fields mixing amateur and semi-professional drivers alongside graded professionals.
