Phill Fogg Jr. competed in a single season of racing during 2003, making three starts in the Star Mazda Championship. His rating of 3,236 places him in the semi-professional band, a level that describes drivers capable of wins in pro-am and one-make racing but typically running mid-pack among full professionals. Fogg did not win or podium during his three races, finishing on average in eighteenth place.[1]

Fogg raced against a field that included several established professionals and future champions. Michael McDowell, who would go on to win the 2004 Star Mazda Championship and became an FIA Gold-graded driver, was his most prominent rival; Fogg finished ahead of McDowell once across their three meetings. He also raced repeatedly against 2003 Star Mazda champion Luis Schiavo, the 2002 champion Moses Smith, and several other drivers rated as mid-tier professionals. Fogg finished ahead of McDowell, Ryan Justice twice, James Goughary, and Jamie Bach on individual occasions, but was consistently outpaced by Schiavo and Smith across their shared races.

Fogg retired after 2003 with no wins or podium finishes to his record. His three-race career provided limited opportunity to establish himself in the series, and his results placed him outside the competitive front of the field.
