Richard Antinucci is a professional-level sportscar driver, graded FIA Gold; his Racer Rating of 4,694 places him among established professionals who win in strong fields and typically finish mid-pack against the very best. His career spans two decades but comprises only 51 starts across multiple series, with most of his racing concentrated in two distinct periods: Formula 3 competition in the early to mid-2000s, and a return to racing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo from 2021 onward. His best results came late in his career. In Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA, Antinucci won the 2021 Pro championship for Taurino Racing by D Motorsports with 5 wins and 8 podiums from 16 starts, his most successful campaign and the highlight of his racing record. His earlier Formula 3 Euro Series stint with HBR Motorsport in 2005 and 2006 produced 2 wins and 5 podiums from 21 starts, but his attempts at single-seater racing at the highest level, including five IndyCar entries in 2009, yielded no podium finishes.[1]
In Formula 3 competition, Antinucci raced against several drivers who would go on to much stronger careers in international motorsport. He finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton twice and Sebastian Vettel eight times across 21 races; however, Vettel finished ahead of him 13 times in the same span, and Antinucci's overall record against that cohort was mixed. In those Formula 3 fields he also raced regularly with Paul Di Resta and Esteban Guerrieri, both future professionals at higher levels; his head-to-head records against them were even or slightly negative. His average finishing position across all 51 career starts was P7.9, consistent with a driver operating at the professional level in sportscar fields but outmatched in single-seater progression.
Antinucci retired after his final season in 2022, finishing 12th in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA standings with 2 podiums from 6 rounds. His late-career success in Lamborghini competition, culminating in the 2021 regional championship, represents a sustained period of competitiveness in pro-am sportscar racing; it was in this series that he established himself as a race-winning driver and found his natural competitive level.
