🇺🇸 Tommy Joe Martins

Tommy Joe Martins is a professional stock car driver and team owner who spent nine seasons racing in NASCAR's national series. He competed primarily in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2014 to 2024, with 128 starts for BJ McLeod Motorsports, and also raced the NASCAR Truck Series across 2016 and 2017 for his own operation, Martins Motorsports. He raced ovals almost exclusively, with 114 of his 128 Xfinity starts on oval tracks.[1]

Martins contested a full-time schedule only intermittently across his career. Over a decade he accumulated 152 starts without a championship or a win. He regularly finished behind established professionals in his field; Ryan Sieg and Jeremy Clements, both with considerably longer careers in Xfinity, usually beat him when they raced. His record against elite-level drivers shows occasional results against the strongest; he finished ahead of Christopher Bell nine times across their meetings, and once beat Denny Hamlin, then a regular Xfinity competitor.[2]

Martins raced in fields where professional and amateur drivers ran together. His own Martins Motorsports team, which fielded six drivers across its career, never won a race. His most recent indexed activity came in 2024, when he finished 41st in the Xfinity championship standings from a single round raced.
