Tristan Charpentier was an established professional single-seater driver who raced in national championships across three continents between 2017 and 2019. He spent the bulk of his career in GB3, running 18 starts for Fortec Motorsports across the 2017 and 2018 seasons, then made brief appearances in the American Indy Pro 2000 Championship and Japan's Super Formula before stepping away from circuit racing.[1]
His GB3 record placed him among a mixed field of amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals, where he collected two podiums across two seasons. He regularly raced against Manuel Maldonado, a Silver-graded professional with European Le Mans Series and Italian Formula 4 experience, and the pair were closely matched; he also met Jamie Chadwick, a three-time W Series champion and established professional, and more often finished ahead of her. Against stronger drivers in his field, Charpentier beat Clément Novalak, a Gold-graded established professional with 58 Formula 2 starts and 32 GB3 appearances, on two occasions, and Kush Maini, a Silver-graded established professional with 106 Formula 2 starts, five times.[2]
His single Super Formula outing in 2019 placed him 18th in the championship standings, and his two Indy Pro 2000 starts that year brought no points. Fortec Motorsports, the team he drove for in most of his indexed racing, numbered Charles Leclerc among its drivers and accumulated 113 race wins across 166 drivers over its career.
