The SCCA Runoffs is a sprint series contested by drivers racing solo in cars across a broad range of classes, from single-seaters through sports cars and touring cars to spec machinery. The field is competitive amateur to entry-level professional, stronger than its peer series in the SCCA regional ladder and NASA club racing, though not quite reaching the professional grading mix of American Endurance Racing. Drivers arrive principally from SCCA Regionals and NASA, and advance to SCCA Majors and SVRA vintage racing or onward to American Endurance Racing and the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup. Top drivers contesting the series include Mikey Taylor, Nic Hammann and Morgan Burkhard. The Runoffs functions as a stepping stone upward within the SCCA structure and toward higher-level racing.
