Gary Jensen competed at the competitive amateur level, with a Racer Rating of 2,746. This level encompasses the front of club racing and entry-level professional-amateur fields; drivers at this rating are quick and usually self-funded, racing against established professionals rather than with them as peers.[1]
Jensen's racing record consisted of a single season in 2002, when he started one event in the Star Mazda Championship. He finished thirty-fourth in that outing. The race placed him against a field that included several professional-level drivers; he finished ahead of Pierre Ehret, an FIA Bronze graded driver rated 3,990, as well as Justin Pruskowski (3,915), John Olsen (3,834), and Joe Pruskowski (3,816), all rated in the semi-professional to professional range. These were isolated results from one race rather than evidence of consistent competitiveness at a higher level, but they marked the extent of his recorded racing activity before retirement.
