Jacky Liu raced a single season in British F4, a national junior single-seater championship, in 2017. Competing for GW Motorsport across the full 15-round calendar, Liu finished 21st in the championship standings.[1]
Liu's British F4 season placed him in a field that included generational talent and established professionals alongside semi-professional competitors. Oscar Piastri, then racing towards championships in Formula Renault Eurocup and Formula 3, was a regular opponent whom Liu typically finished behind. Logan Sargeant, who would go on to establish a professional career in Formula 3 and Formula 1, was similarly a regular presence in the field. Liu beat Sargeant once and also finished ahead of Johnathan Hoggard, a professional driver and 2019 GB3 champion, on one occasion.[2]
