🇬🇧 Ayrton Simmons

Ayrton Simmons is an entry-level professional racing driver, FIA Silver graded, who spent seven seasons in single-seater racing from 2016 to 2022. He raced primarily in British F4 and GB3, national single-class championships run in the UK, alongside brief campaigns in Euroformula Open and Formula 3. His main team was Chris Dittmann Racing, with whom he completed the majority of his starts in GB3.[1]

Simmons took 14 wins and 40 podiums across 149 starts. In British F4 he scored five wins and 19 podiums over three seasons with JHR Developments, racing alongside amateur and semi-professional entrants and graded professionals in the same field. He moved to GB3 in 2018 and remained there through 2021, accumulating nine wins and 19 podiums for Chris Dittmann Racing. His best championship result came in 2021, when he finished fifth in the GB3 standings; the team he drove for won the British F4 title in both 2016 and 2017 during his time there. In 2022 he made his only extended venture beyond the UK domestic scene, taking two podiums from nine starts in Euroformula Open for Drivex before a four-start appearance in Formula 3 with Charouz Racing System.[2]

Simmons was a regular opponent for two-time GB3 starter Hampus Ericsson, whom he usually finished ahead of, and closely matched with Johnathan Hoggard, the 2019 GB3 champion, across British F4 and GB3. He finished ahead of Oscar Piastri six times across their overlapping British F4 seasons, though Piastri went on to win the 2021 Formula 2 championship and race in Formula 1.
