🇬🇧 Guy Smith

Guy Smith is a professional endurance and sportscar driver, rated at a level where he competes regularly against established peers but is not among their strongest; he is graded FIA Gold, the professional classification for endurance racing. His indexed career spans from 1996 to 2023 across 34 starts in formula, GT and prototype racing, latterly with United Autosports in the WeatherTech series and European Le Mans Series. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003 and the American Le Mans Series in 2011.[1]

His most active indexed period was the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie from 2011 to 2016, where he contested eight rounds for Bentley Team ABT. In endurance racing proper, he took a podium finish in the 2021 WeatherTech season and another in Road to Le Mans the same year. His most recent indexed activity was the 2019 WEC season, where he finished 13th in the championship across four rounds for Team LNT. In 2021 he returned to single-seater racing in Trans-Am, taking three podiums from three starts. His earliest indexed entry was Formula 3 Macau in 1996 with TOM''S Racing Team, and he raced the FIA GT Championship sporadically between 1997 and 2003.[2]

In endurance grids that mixed amateur and professional entries, Smith was closely matched with Klaus Abbelen, a FIA Bronze entry-level professional and 2014 Nürburgring series champion who has raced over a hundred starts at that circuit; he usually finished behind Daniel Schneider, a professional with 21 European Le Mans starts. He beat established professionals Rene Rast, a three-time DTM champion with 38 WEC starts, and Christian Vietoris, a Platinum-graded driver with 33 Formula 3 Euro Series starts, once each across his career.
