🇨🇭 Alex Fontana

Alex Fontana is an entry-level professional, FIA Gold graded, whose racing now centers on multiclass, shared-car endurance events in GT3 machinery, run in fields that mix amateurs with graded professionals. He currently drives for Lionspeed GP in GT World Challenge Europe, and has also raced for TSUNAMI RT in the 24H Series and at the Bathurst 12 Hour, and for Car Collection Motorsport in the Asian Le Mans Series.[1]

His career began in single-seaters, with five seasons in the GP3 Series for Status Grand Prix that produced three podiums, alongside single outings in Formula E for Trulli Formula E Team and in Formula V8 3.5 for Pons Racing. Since 2020 he has raced GT3 cars in GT World Challenge Europe for Lionspeed GP, taking a win and four podiums there, and has built a parallel endurance programme: a podium in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and two starts at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, both for Goroyan RT by Car Collection, a single European Le Mans Series start in an LMP3 prototype for Team Virage, and a GT World Challenge America outing for Car Collection Motorsports. His most recent start, the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours, is part of a season still in progress.[2]

In his GP3 years Fontana raced regularly against Jimmy Eriksson, a Silver-graded professional with a long single-seater résumé, and the two were closely matched; against Patric Niederhauser, a Platinum-graded established professional with a long GT World Challenge Europe record, he has usually finished behind. He has also finished ahead of Alex Palou, the five-time IndyCar champion, on five occasions, and once ahead of Max Verstappen during their shared time in GP3. His main team, Jenzer Motorsport, has also fielded Yuki Tsunoda among its drivers.
