Jamie Sharp is a competitive amateur who raced British F4, a national single-seater championship open to amateurs and professionals in the same field, for Sharp Motorsport during 2017 and 2018.[1]
Sharp completed two seasons in the series across 46 starts and finished 13th in the 2018 championship standings. He raced regularly against entry-level professionals including Ayrton Simmons and Patrik Pasma, drivers who went on to contest Formula Regional and Eurocup machinery; Sharp typically finished behind both. He finished ahead of Jack Doohan on one occasion; Doohan later progressed to established professional status, competing in Formula 2 and Formula 3. Sharp also beat Dennis Hauger twice across their British F4 meetings; Hauger became an established professional and champion of Italian F4, Formula 3 and Indy NXT.[2]
The British F4 field mixed competitive amateurs with semi-professionals and graded professionals learning the formula-racing ladder. Sharp's record places him consistently mid-pack in that company.
