Johannes Stengel is a retired professional endurance racing driver, FIA Silver graded. He raced shared-car GT3 and modified production-based cars in multiclass endurance championships across Germany and internationally between 2018 and 2023. His primary team was Huber Motorsport, where he drove Porsches in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie.[1]
Stengel's career comprised 16 starts across three series, yielding two wins and six podiums. He won once in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and once at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the latter a single-round international championship. His most significant result came at the 24H Series in 2021, where he took a podium finish in the GT3-AM class. Between 2018 and 2021 he accumulated four podiums in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a domestic multiclass endurance championship that made up the bulk of his racing. His career ended after the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours.[2]
In the fields he raced, Stengel competed against a mixture of amateurs and graded professionals sharing the same grids. He finished ahead of Josh Burdon, an established professional with 23 WeatherTech Championship starts, and held his own against Charles Espenlaub and Charles Putman, both regular opponents in his series; he typically finished ahead of Putman and ran closely matched with Espenlaub, a Silver-graded entry-level professional who won the 2018 24H Series A6-AM class championship.
