Jon Branam was an entry-level professional racing single-driver and shared-car GT racing in national American championships. Between 2020 and 2023, he competed in IMSA Pilot Challenge, GT4 America, and GT World Challenge America, racing GT3 and GT4 cars for TR3 Racing; his earlier racing began in 2005 with 17 starts in the Star Mazda Championship for American Speed Factory. He held an FIA Bronze grade, the amateur classification in endurance and sportscar racing.[1]
Branam took two wins across his record, both in 2023. He won once in GT World Challenge America and once in GT America, adding a third podium finish in GT World Challenge America for a total of two wins and three podiums from 27 career starts. His most substantial indexed campaign was the 2005-06 Star Mazda Championship, where he made 17 starts and finished 13th in the season standings.[2]
In Star Mazda, Branam finished closely matched with John Pew, a Silver-graded established professional, and regularly behind Adrian Carrio, who won that championship in 2006. He also twice finished ahead of Graham Rahal and once ahead of Nolan Siegel, both Gold-graded drivers with substantial single-seater careers in IndyCar and its feeder series.
