🇺🇸 Eric McClure

Eric McClure was an entry-level professional competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the national single-class stock car championship. He raced primarily for JD Motorsports across 14 seasons from 2003 to 2016, accumulating 288 starts. Nearly all his racing was on ovals, with occasional appearances on road and street courses within the series.[1]

McClure spent his career in midfield company on a national circuit that mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals. His regular opponents were entry-level and professional drivers such as Mike Bliss and Mike Wallace, whom he typically finished behind. He occasionally finished ahead of drivers with credentials beyond the series itself; he beat Denny Hamlin, an elite professional with substantial NASCAR Cup Series experience, in ten meetings, and finished ahead of Ryan Blaney, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion, four times across their races in Xfinity. His primary team affiliation was TriStar Motorsports, which fielded him for 117 of his starts and ran alongside drivers including established professional Tony Stewart. In his final season, 2016, he completed just one race before ending his career.[2]
