Kazuya Tsuruta was an entry-level professional racing in Japan's Super GT championship, a multiclass endurance series in which cars are shared by multiple drivers across each race. He drove GT300-class machinery for Rn-Sports, fielding either FIA GT3 cars or Japanese-built GT300 specials. His only indexed racing spans three seasons from 2014 to 2016, with 16 starts across that period.[1]
Tsuruta competed in Super GT for three years, finishing 20th in the championship standings in 2016, the final season of his record on file. He met established professionals regularly in the GT300 field; drivers such as Haruki Kurosawa, a 2018 GT300 champion, and Nobuteru Taniguchi, a three-time GT300 champion, were among his most frequent competitors, and Tsuruta typically finished behind them. He finished ahead of Kenta Yamashita, a driver who would go on to win the GT500 championship three times, on two occasions, and beat Kazuki Hiramine, a 2022 GT500 champion, once.[2]
Rn-Sports, the team that fielded him for 14 of his 16 starts, was a small operation without race wins in the indexed record and counted several drivers across its roster; its strongest driver in the database was the established professional Yuui Tsutsumi.
