Kazunori Yamauchi was a professional racing driver competing in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a multiclass endurance championship mixing amateur, semi-professional and graded professionals in shared-car racing across multiple production-based and GT3 classes. His indexed racing career spanned six seasons from 2010 to 2016, fielded primarily by Walkenhorst Motorsport and Schulze Motorsport.[1]
Over nine starts, Yamauchi secured one podium finish. He raced against established professionals including FIA Silver-graded Uwe Alzen and 2018 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie SP 9 Pro champion David Arnold Lance, typically finishing behind both. His most notable scalps came against stronger opposition: he finished ahead of Laurens Vanthoor, an FIA Platinum professional and multiple IMSA and WEC champion, and Katsumasa Chiyo, an FIA Gold-graded professional with extensive Super GT experience, though these instances were one-off occurrences in his limited racing record.[2]
Yamauchi is also the CEO of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo simulation racing series. His racing activity ended in 2016.
