Michael Klein was an entry-level professional racing single-seater and endurance championships between 2004 and 2011. His indexed career comprised eight starts in Formula 3 Euro Series for Jo Zeller Racing in 2008, five endurance starts in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie in Porsche Cup and production-based cars in 2010 and 2011, and one PCA Club Racing start in a Porsche in 2004. He scored one podium finish, in the Nürburgring series, across 14 total starts.[1]
Klein raced against elite and established professionals in both series. In Formula 3 Euro Series, he was a regular opponent to both Edoardo Mortara, the 2010 series champion, and Christian Vietoris, a GP2 Series regular; he typically finished behind both. He twice beat Nico Hülkenberg, the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series champion and future Formula 1 driver, and once finished ahead of Sam Bird, a multiple world endurance champion. Jo Zeller Racing fielded him alongside established competitors in a team whose best driver was the established professional Tom Dillmann.[2]
