The field mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals; among those he raced most often, he ran closely with established professional Julien Canal but typically finished behind professional Reinhard Kofler. He finished ahead of Davide Valsecchi, a 2012 GP2 Series champion, on five occasions, and beat Pastor Maldonado, who would go on to race in Formula 1, once.[2]
