Colin Fleming is an established professional driver who competed in single-seater formulae between 2004 and 2006. He raced in Formula Renault Eurocup for Jenzer Motorsport in 2004, then moved to Formula V8 3.5 with Carlin Motorsport for 2005 and 2006, competing against a field mixing amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals in both championships.[1]

Fleming took seven podiums in 14 starts during his first season in Formula Renault Eurocup, establishing himself as a front-runner in the category. His move to Formula V8 3.5 proved less productive; across two seasons he added one podium to his tally from 13 starts and finished 16th in the 2006 championship standings. His most regular opponents in this period were Simon Pagenaud and Pastor Maldonado, both established professionals who would go on to win major titles; Fleming proved closely matched with both across multiple meetings. He finished ahead of Will Power, a two-time IndyCar champion, on four occasions, and beat Davide Valsecchi, the 2012 GP2 Series champion, five times across their head-to-head races.[2]
