Giampiero Simoni was an Italian racing driver who competed in International Formula 3000, a single-class open-wheel championship that fielded amateurs and professionals in the same races. He drove for Mythos Racing across two seasons from 1992 to 1993, accumulating 14 starts. He finished 16th in the 1993 championship standings, his final year of indexed racing.[1]

Simoni raced against a field that included established professionals bound for Formula 1. He beat David Coulthard once and Allan McNish once across his time in the series. Against Olivier Panis, a driver who would go on to race in Formula 1, Simoni proved closely matched. His record against Coulthard overall shows him usually finishing behind a driver who went on to 247 Formula 1 starts, though he took at least one finish ahead of him. Mythos Racing, the team he drove for throughout his indexed career, was a small operation; its other drivers included Vincenzo Sospiri, an established professional who was among the team's strongest entries.[2]
