Alessandro Zampedri was an established professional single-seater and oval racing driver who competed across International Formula 3000, IndyCar, and Formula 3 Macau between 1992 and 2001. He drove for Nordic Racing in Formula 3000, Team Scandia in IndyCar, and made occasional starts in other series. His primary indexed team was Forti, which fielded him for ten of his starts across his career.[1]
Over five seasons, Zampedri accumulated 23 starts and a single podium finish, which came during his two seasons in International Formula 3000 with Nordic Racing in 1992 and 1993. His move to IndyCar in 1996 and 1997 brought three oval-track starts for Team Scandia; he finished 28th in the 1997 IndyCar championship standings. His other appearances included a one-off in Formula 3 Macau with TOM's GB in 1993 and a single FIA GT Championship start in 2001.[2]
Zampedri raced regularly alongside established professionals. He typically finished behind David Coulthard, who competed in Formula 1, Formula 3000 and Formula 3 Macau, but was closely matched with fellow Formula 3000 regular Olivier Panis, a Silver-graded professional who later drove in Formula 1. His single wins over stronger opposition came against Tony Stewart, the 1997 IndyCar champion, and Allan McNish, who raced Formula 3000, Formula 1 and endurance machinery at the highest level.
