Albert Costa is an established professional racing driver competing primarily in sportscar and endurance racing, where his rating of 5,687 places him among the sharp end of a strong professional field. His career trajectory moved from single-seater racing through to sustained success in GT and prototype competition over nearly two decades. Costa won the 2009 Formula Renault Eurocup as a rising talent and competed in Formula V8 3.5 thereafter, but has made his principal career in endurance and sportscar racing since 2019, where he holds FIA Platinum status; this grading denotes a full professional in GT and endurance fields. Across 145 starts in his recorded career, Costa has taken 13 wins and 42 podiums, averaging a finish of P8.4 in classified results.[1]

Costa's sportscar record centres on long-term commitments to Conquest Racing in IMSA WeatherTech competition and to Eastalent Racing Team in GT World Challenge Europe, the latter his most frequently contested series with 43 starts yielding four wins and ten podiums. His head-to-head record against peers in these fields is mixed; he finishes ahead of several Platinum-graded drivers more often than not, notably Christopher Mies and Dries Vanthoor, yet trails Raffaele Marciello and several others consistently. Marciello, a much stronger driver who is a multiple GT champion and former Formula 3 European champion at rating 5,833, beat Costa in 38 of their 59 shared races; this reflects a genuine performance gap between them. Costa has nevertheless beaten drivers of genuine calibre; Daniel Ricciardo, the 2010 Formula V8 3.5 champion at rating 7,675, finished behind Costa seven times when they raced together in that series, though Ricciardo won their head-to-head contest decisively overall.[2]

Costa remained active through 2023 and into 2026, with his most recent documented activity in IMSA in April 2026 and a return to Conquest Racing for the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona after a season away from racing. His 2023 highlight was a class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2 competition with Inter Europol Competition, demonstrating that endurance racing success at the highest level remains within his reach.
