Patrick McGovern is a semi-professional competing in national SCCA multiclass sprint racing, fielding heavily modified production sports cars in the FP class and spec Mazda MX-5s in the SM and SMX classes across the Majors, Regionals and Runoffs championships.[1]
Over five seasons from 2022 to 2026, McGovern has taken a single win and six podiums from 22 starts. His record centers on the SCCA Majors, where he has started 13 times and claimed three podium finishes. He took a win at the SCCA Regionals level and added three further podiums across seven starts there, with two additional Runoffs appearances in 2022 and 2023.[2]
McGovern races among a field mixing club-level regulars with established and professional-graded drivers. He runs closely matched against Ford Munnerlyn, a fellow club competitor who has contested both the Majors and Regionals; he typically finishes behind Antonio Abrom, another club driver active in the same series. His single most significant result came against Connor Zilisch, an established professional and FIA Gold-graded driver who won the 2024 ARCA Menards East and holds the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity title; McGovern finished ahead of him once. He has also beaten Jake Walker, a professional and FIA Silver-graded driver and 2025 IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge GTDX champion, once across their meetings.
