Paul Dallenbach is a semi-professional racing driver with a Racer Rating of 3,339, placing him in the competitive amateur band where he raced against established professionals and mid-field national-level drivers. His record on the Racer DB system consists of a single season in the 2002 Star Mazda Championship, a three-round stint that yielded no wins or podiums and ended with a ninth-place finish in the final round.[1]

In his three starts that season, Dallenbach competed in a field that included Moses Smith, the championship winner at that level, and several drivers graded as professional or better. He recorded a head-to-head record of 1-2 against Smith and beat Tim Jennings, a professional-rated driver, once; he also outfinished John Olsen and John Mefford in all three races they shared. Against Scott Speed, who would go on to win the 2004 Formula Renault Eurocup and holds a Platinum FIA grade, Dallenbach finished behind him in all three encounters. His average finishing position across classified starts was sixth.[2]

The database record captures only a slice of Dallenbach's racing career. Outside this formal record, his résumé extended to NASCAR Cup racing, SCCA Trans-Am, IMSA sportscar endurance competition, CART road racing, and notably the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where he competed repeatedly across several decades and won qualifiers for the event. He passed away in May 2024 at the age of 87.
