Rodney Forbes was a semi-professional endurance racing driver competing in German national series. He raced primarily in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie between 2010 and 2013 for raceunion Teichmann Racing, driving Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the Cup 2 class and modified production machines in the SP 7 class, alongside two starts in the FIA GT Championship in 2008 and 2009. His rating of 2,998 places him at the semi-professional level, where drivers typically race regularly against established professionals but lack the consistency or calibre of opposition to advance further.[1]
Forbes won eight races across 25 starts, with 11 podium finishes. He took the 2010 Nürburburgring Langstrecken-Serie championship with Scuderia Offenbach, a team that ran 14 wins across the index with a driver roster that included the professional David Horn. His subsequent three seasons in the series saw him finish 27th in the final championship standings in 2013. In the FIA GT Championship, a mixed-grade field that included both amateurs and graded professionals, he competed twice in 2008 and 2009 without recording a points result.[2]
In the German endurance field Forbes raced most often against entry-level professional Frank Kräling, a multiple Nürburgring champion, and the professional Wolfgang Kohler, both regular opponents with whom he was closely matched. He recorded victories over drivers of greater established standing, among them Michael Bartels, a three-time FIA GT Championship winner who competed in International Formula 3000, and Anthony Davidson, an FIA Platinum-graded established professional who won the 2014 WEC LMP1 championship. After retiring from indexed competition in 2013, Forbes made cameo race appearances in Australian national series.
