Tanner Rumburg is a semi-professional driver whose career on record consists of a single season in the 2018 IMSA Pilot Challenge, where he started five races for Rumcastle LLC without recording a win or podium finish. His Racer Rating of 3,227 places him among semi-professionals; drivers at this level typically win in pro-am and one-make classes and run mid-pack among full professionals. Rumburg's average finishing position of P6.2 across his classified starts reflects competitive but not front-running pace in a field of professional and semi-professional drivers.[1]
Rumburg faced a consistent deficit to the stronger drivers in his field. Against Rodrigo Sales, an FIA Bronze graded professional rated significantly above him, Rumburg finished ahead once but trailed him in four of their five shared races. He lost all five head-to-head meetings with Stephen Simpson, an FIA Silver graded professional, and with Britt Casey Jr, the 2018 IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR champion. His most competitive showings came against Mikey Taylor, whom he out-finished three times despite Taylor's greater experience and his later championship in the same series. Rumburg also occasionally bested Kuno Wittmer, an FIA Platinum graded driver, though he finished behind him in four of five encounters.
Rumburg's brief tenure ended after the 2018 season and he has not raced since. His team, Rumcastle LLC, fielded seven drivers across its recorded history with no race wins, placing Rumburg among its mid-field performers.
