🇺🇸 Kuno Wittmer

Kuno Wittmer is a retired professional endurance racing driver who competed across a ten-year career in multiclass IMSA championships and international sportscar racing. Platinum-graded by the FIA, he raced primarily for AWA, driving GE and LMP3 prototypes in IMSA WeatherTech and GT4-level cars in the Pilot Challenge, alongside a pair of international starts. His career spanned 58 starts from 2013 to 2022.[1]

Wittmer's record centers on the IMSA Pilot Challenge, where he took five wins and ten podiums across 29 starts between 2018 and 2021. He competed in IMSA WeatherTech for a longer period, from 2014 to 2022, but with a single win and two podiums in 26 starts; the difference in consistency between the two series reflects a more competitive position in the Pilot Challenge. His sole international outing came in the 2013 World Endurance Championship, where he started once in a GTE Pro car for SRT Motorsport and finished 22nd in championship points. A single appearance in the Nürburgring 24 Hours on the 2017 calendar yielded no finishes.[2]

He shared the Pilot Challenge grid regularly with entry-level professionals including Bill Auberlen and Andrew Davis, both FIA Silver drivers with established IMSA histories; Wittmer ran closely matched with both. Among the strongest drivers he finished ahead of were NASCAR elite Chase Briscoe, whom he beat three times, and established professional Austin Cindric, twice beaten. Most of his racing came through Compass Racing, a small team that won 12 races across its indexed history; the team's strongest driver on record is the established professional Matt McMurry.
