Russ McDonough was a competitive amateur driver whose career record comprises a single season in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series in 2017. His rating of 2,251 places him in the club racing band; this describes a driver competing at a real level with a racing licence and genuine results, though typically in fields that do not meet full professionals. McDonough's single season was brief but productive, yielding one win and four podium finishes across ten starts for an average finishing position of 5.9.[1]

McDonough's record against his regular rivals showed mixed results. He finished ahead of Pat Daly and Jeff Stern more often than not across eight shared races each, and held a similar edge over Dalton Peak in six meetings.
