🇦🇺 Tom Smith

Tom Smith is an entry-level professional competing in single-seater and production-car racing across multiple national championships. He races for Van Amersfoort Racing in Formula 3, where he has completed two full seasons with 38 starts, and has recently begun endurance racing in the ChampCar series driving a production-based Toyota MR2 for Theoretically Racing.[1]

Smith's record spans four seasons from 2021 onward. He began with five starts in SCCA Majors GT1 racing, taking a podium finish, before moving to Formula 3 in 2023. Across two seasons in Formula 3, he raced against a field mixing amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals; his regular opponents included Leonardo Fornaroli, the 2024 Formula 3 champion and current Formula 2 driver, and Gabriele Mini, a former Italian F4 champion with 54 Formula 2 starts. Smith finished behind both drivers consistently but has beaten Fornaroli twice and matched the results of Arvid Lindblad, an FIA Platinum-graded driver with 27 Formula 2 starts, twice over the course of his two seasons. He took an eighth-place finish in the 2023 SCCA Majors championship standings. In 2026, he entered the ChampCar Endurance Series, competing in its C class alongside the circuit's faster prototype and GT classes.[2]
