Aaron Whitinger was a club-level racer who competed in NASA racing and American Endurance Racing between 2014 and 2020. His Racer Rating of 1,646 places him in the club category, a real competition licence holder and a genuine competitor in fields that do not meet professionals. Across 94 starts he scored 5 wins and 20 podiums, the bulk of them in NASA competition where he drove a BMW E30 over seven seasons. His average finish of P9.2 reflects consistent mid-field competency in club racing.[1]
Whitinger's record against his most regular rivals tells a clear story. He faced the three-time NASA Spec E30 champion Sandro Espinosa in 76 shared races, finishing ahead only 15 times against 61 losses; this is the record of a driver outclassed by a much stronger competitor. Against other club-level drivers, his results were mixed. He held a winning head-to-head record against Scott Gress, finished ahead of Mark Issa more often than not, and beat the semi-professional drivers Christopher Matos and Eric Powell in isolated races, though not consistently. The evidence of his occasional victories over professional-grade drivers does not override the pattern of his typical finishing position in regular club competition.
Whitinger's NASA programme ended in 2020 with a final two rounds that yielded one podium. His career shows a driver with a stable place in club racing, competitive enough to win races and podium regularly against his peer group, but operating well below the professional threshold.
