Ty Young is a competitive amateur racing in a national multiclass endurance series. He competes in NASA, a championship that shares grids across 15 classes from amateur to graded professional, racing spec BMW E30 and E46 3-series in the production-car classes. He has also made 30 starts in Trans-Am TA2, a single-class series that runs tube-frame V8 silhouette cars, and currently races in that championship.[1]
Young has 11 seasons of racing on record spanning 2015 to 2025, with 168 starts across NASA and Trans-Am TA2. He won the 2020 NASA championship driving the BMW E30 #31 and has taken 14 wins and 42 podiums in NASA alone across his 138 starts there. In his five seasons of Trans-Am TA2 racing, he finished 26th in the 2024 championship standings after seven rounds.[2]
In NASA, Young regularly finishes ahead of developing-level opponents including Scott Gress, a NASA regular with nearly 280 starts, and Walter Araya, who has made over 170 starts in the series. He has also beaten established professionals; he finished ahead of Daniel Suárez, the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity champion and a driver with over 450 Cup and Xfinity starts combined, on one occasion, and ahead of Carson Kvapil, another established professional with experience across Xfinity and Trans-Am TA2.
