Denis Lay was a professional racing driver competing in endurance motorsport. In 1997 he raced for Stadler Motorsport in the FIA GT Championship, a multiclass endurance series in which each car carried two or more drivers who shared driving duties across the race distance. Lay completed a single season of seven starts in the series.[1]
Racing in a field mixing amateurs, semi-professionals and established professionals, Lay finished 33rd in the championship standings. He was closely matched against Alessandro Nannini, an established professional with 77 Formula 1 starts and 11 FIA GT entries, and beat him twice across the season. He also finished ahead of Max Angelelli, an FIA Gold graded established professional who went on to race in Formula 3 Macau, IMSA WeatherTech and further FIA GT rounds.
