Bernd Schneider is a retired German racing driver and an established professional who races in endurance and sprint championships at the Gold FIA grade, the second tier of professional sportscar and endurance licensing. His career spanned from 1986 to 2022, with 55 starts across single-seater, touring, and endurance racing. He drove for AMG-Mercedes in the FIA GT Championship, where he won the 1997 title.[1]
Schneider's most significant achievement was his 1997 FIA GT Championship title with AMG-Mercedes, during which he took 11 wins and 16 podiums in 21 starts; he remained competitive in the series into 1998. He also raced in Formula 1 for Arrows across three seasons, taking nine starts between 1988 and 1990. Later in his career he competed in multiclass endurance racing, winning twice in the 24H Series and once in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie across 20 combined starts in those two championships. He made a single start in IMSA WeatherTech in 2018. His first indexed racing came in Formula 3 Macau in 1986.[2]
In FIA GT competition, Schneider regularly finished ahead of established professional drivers including Yannick Dalmas and Claudia Hürtgen, and the record shows him beating Ralf Schumacher once in the series. In the 24H Series, a multiclass championship where amateur and semi-professional drivers race alongside graded professionals in shared-car endurance events, Schneider took two wins from four starts; his final indexed racing was in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie in 2017, where he finished 40th in the championship standings across two rounds.
