🇮🇹 Alessandro Zanardi

Alessandro Zanardi is an Italian racing driver whose motorsport career began in Formula One, where he competed between 1991 and 1999, before moving to American open-wheel racing. In CART, he became a two-time series champion in 1997 and 1998 while driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, establishing himself as one of the leading open-wheel talents of his era. He later competed in the World Touring Car Championship from 2005 to 2009, extending his career into touring car competition, and beyond his motor racing exploits he became a highly decorated para-cyclist following a life-changing accident, winning four Paralympic gold medals and twelve UCI Road World Championship titles across the 2012 and 2016 Games cycles.[1]

Within the DTM, Zanardi is listed under Racer DB with BMW Team RMR, where his record shows two career starts and no wins or podiums to date. His current Racer Rating stands at 2,547, placing him 1,478th among active drivers on the database's Elo-style scale. In the 2026 season, he has taken part in two rounds without a win or podium finish, sitting 20th in the standings, and his status in the database is marked as retired.[2]
