Coulthard is a professional racing driver from New Zealand competing in the Supercars Championship for Mobil 1 Optus Racing. He holds an FIA Silver grade, placing him below the full-professional Platinum and Gold ranks in endurance and sportscar racing. Across seven seasons from 2019 to 2025, he has made 96 starts in the national Australian single-class championship, which fields a mix of amateur, semi-professional and graded professionals in the same races.[1]
He has taken three wins and 16 podiums in that span. His most regular opponents are established professionals; he typically finishes behind Jamie Whincup, a Platinum-graded driver, but runs closely matched with Cameron Waters. His strongest finishes have come against elite-level competition: he has beaten Scott McLaughlin, the twice Supercars champion and IndyCar and IMSA racer, on 12 occasions, and Broc Feeney, the 2025 Supercars champion, four times. Most of his starts came with Shell V-Power Racing Team, one of the grid's established operations.[2]
The 2025 season remains in progress. Through two rounds, Coulthard sits 31st in the championship standings. Recent activity includes success as an endurance co-driver for Chaz Mostert with Walkinshaw Andretti United.
