François Lafon was a professional racing driver who competed in endurance racing. He raced in the FIA GT Championship from 1997 to 2002, sharing cars with co-drivers for Team ART across 27 starts in a field that mixed amateur, semi-professional and graded professional entrants.[1]
His career spanned six seasons in the FIA GT Championship. He finished 26th in the championship standings in 2002, his final season. Among his results were finishes ahead of Alessandro Nannini, an established professional with 77 Formula 1 starts and an extensive record in GT racing, and Fabrizio Gollin, who would go on to win the 2004 FIA GT Championship. His regular competitors included Mike Hezemans, a Silver-graded professional, and Christophe Bouchut, the 2001 and 2002 FIA GT Championship winner; both drivers typically finished ahead of him.[2]
