Tony Burgess is a professional driver who raced in endurance championships during a career spanning from 1998 to 2013. He competed in shared-car racing, taking turns with teammates in both FIA GT Championship events and the WEC's LMP2 prototype class. His primary team was Seikel Motorsport, which fielded him across four FIA GT starts between 1998 and 2003.[1]
Burgess made five indexed starts across two series. In the FIA GT Championship he completed four races for Seikel Motorsport over a six-year period. He returned to international competition in 2013 with a single WEC entry in LMP2, finishing 27th in the championship standings. His strongest results came against established professionals; he beat Philippe Alliot, a former Formula 1 driver with over a century of FIA GT starts, and Michel Ligonnet, who had run 25 races in the same championship.[2]
Against the regulars in his field, Burgess typically finished behind stronger competitors. He raced repeatedly against Christophe Bouchut, a two-time FIA GT champion and entry-level professional, and Mike Hezemans, a professional with 117 FIA GT Championship starts; both were usually ahead of him at the finish. His career in this index ends with the 2013 WEC season.
