🇺🇸 Frank McCormick

Frank McCormack was a semi-professional competitor at the Star Mazda Championship level from 2002 to 2010, rated 3,296. This rating places him in the semi-professional band; drivers at this level win occasionally in pro-am and one-make classes and run mid-pack among full professionals. Across seven seasons and 14 starts, McCormack scored no wins or podiums and averaged a finishing position of 23rd. His racing was concentrated in the Star Mazda series, where he competed for World Speed Motorsports, a team that fielded 28 drivers across the index with a modest two wins recorded.[1]

McCormack's head-to-head record against his regular rivals shows him finishing consistently mid-field to back-of-field in that company. Against Phil Fogg Jr., the closest competitor he faced in terms of rating, McCormack went 3-9 across 12 shared races. He ran similarly or slightly worse against Brian Thienes, Patrick O'Neill, and John Faulkner, each pairings in which he finished behind his rival more often than ahead. His only noteworthy results came as isolated performances against much stronger drivers; he beat Graham Rahal, an FIA Gold graded professional rated 6,122, once, and similarly had single victories over Jonathan Bomarito, a Platinum-graded professional at 5,676, and Tristan Vautier, the eventual 2011 Star Mazda Champion. These isolated outings do not represent a pattern of competitiveness at that level. McCormack retired from racing after his final Star Mazda appearance in 2010.
