🇺🇸 Jeffery Kester

Jeffery Kester was a semi-professional driver who raced in the Star Mazda Championship for two seasons from 2008 to 2009, compiling 19 starts without a win or podium finish. His Racer Rating of 3,357 places him among semi-professionals: drivers capable of winning in pro-am and one-make classes but typically running mid-pack among full professionals. Kester's record reflects this standing; he averaged a 16th-place finish and spent his entire career racing against drivers of similar calibre, including multiple competitors rated in the 3,000 to 4,900 band.[1]

Kester's head-to-head record against his regular rivals shows consistent struggle. In nineteen shared races with Peter Dempsey, an FIA Bronze-graded driver rated 4,874, Kester finished ahead only twice and behind seventeen times. Against Alex Ardoin and Billy Goshen, the disparity was similar; Kester beat them only two and three times respectively across the season, while losing to them sixteen and sixteen times. He did manage to finish ahead of Conor Daly, the 2010 Star Mazda Champion and a much stronger professional rated 5,858, twice during their races together, and he beat the FIA Gold-graded Mikaël Grenier once, but these isolated results did not reflect a pattern of competitiveness at that level.

Kester raced primarily for Kester Racing, which fielded him for twelve of his nineteen starts. The team recorded no wins across the database and has not otherwise distinguished itself in the series. His most recent activity came in 2009, when he competed in seven rounds of the Star Mazda Championship and finished 24th in the final points standings. He has been retired since that season.
