🇮🇪 Peter Dempsey

Peter Dempsey is a professional Irish racing driver competing in a mix of endurance and sprint racing across national-level championships. He races for Racing Team Turkey by TF in the World Endurance Championship and for Ziggo Sport Tempesta Racing in GT World Challenge Europe, a European-wide shared-car endurance series. He is Bronze-graded by the FIA, which places him among amateur and gentleman drivers in endurance racing, typically racing alongside professionals. His career spans from 2008, when he began in single-seater racing, through to the present day across multiple series and formats.[1]

Dempsey took nine wins and thirteen podiums across twenty-five starts in the Star Mazda Championship between 2008 and 2009, then moved to Indy NXT, where he raced for Team Moore Racing from 2011 to 2013. He secured a single victory across twenty-six starts in Indy NXT, with seven podiums in total. After a gap in his indexed record, he has returned to active racing in 2025 and 2026, competing in SCCA Regionals and SCCA Majors, where he has claimed two podiums from two Regionals starts, before moving into the higher-profile GT World Challenge Europe and the WEC. In the WEC this season, he has taken one victory and one podium from six rounds so far, and currently sits seventh in the championship standings.[2]

His record in single-seaters placed him regularly ahead of professionals including Jorge Goncalvez and David Ostella, a FIA Silver-graded driver who raced in Indy NXT and the IMSA WeatherTech Championship. Most notably, Dempsey has twice finished ahead of Josef Newgarden, the 2011 Indy NXT champion and a two-time IndyCar champion, and once ahead of Maro Engel, the 2024 GT World Challenge Europe champion and a Platinum-graded professional with extensive DTM experience.
