Matt Tifft is a professional stock car racer who competed primarily in NASCAR's national series. Over eight seasons from 2013 to 2024, he made 163 starts across ARCA, NASCAR Truck, NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Cup Series, driving for teams including Dragon Alliance in ARCA and Joe Gibbs Racing in Xfinity, where he spent the majority of his indexed career. He rates 4,769 on the Elo scale, placing him at professional level; this reflects competition against a national field mixing semi-professional entrants and graded professionals.[1]

Tifft's record in Xfinity, his longest tenure, yielded four podiums from 77 starts, almost entirely on ovals. He took six podiums in 25 ARCA starts early in his career. His NASCAR Cup campaign in 2019 produced no podiums from 34 starts. In total across all series he recorded 10 podiums. A medical condition sidelined him from late 2019 through 2023; he returned briefly to racing in 2024, entering two Trans-Am TA2 rounds and finishing 26th in that season's championship standings.[2]

Against the established professionals he encountered regularly, Tifft typically finished behind Daniel Hemric but ahead of Ross Chastain, the 2022 NASCAR Cup champion. He was outpaced more often than not by Hemric's 189 Xfinity starts and experience across truck and Cup series, while beating Chastain on occasion across their overlapping years in the lower national series. He finished ahead of elite professionals Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney multiple times in Cup races, though these were scattered results in fields where both drivers won frequently.
