Patrick Dempsey raced professional-level multiclass endurance cars in two international series from 2013 to 2015. He competed in IMSA WeatherTech as a co-driver for Wright Motorsports and in the WEC, where he shared a GTE car for Dempsey-Proton Racing, his own team. Across 20 starts in these two championships, he took one win and two podium finishes.[1]
In WEC, his primary series, Dempsey finished sixth in the LMGTE Am championship standings across the 2013 to 2015 seasons, accounting for his win and both podiums. His IMSA campaign spanned 11 starts over two years without a top-three result. His racing career lasted three indexed seasons and has since ended.[2]
Dempsey's regular opponents were professionals including Ben Keating and Bill Sweedler, both FIA Bronze drivers and repeat co-drivers in endurance racing; he finished level with both across multiple meetings. He beat Brendon Hartley, an established professional who has since gone on to win the 2016 WEC LMP1 championship and the 2023 WEC Hypercar title, twice in their meetings. He also finished ahead of Kevin Estre, a Platinum-graded established professional and two-time WEC champion, on four occasions. His own team was a modest operation and did not win races across the wider index; the strongest driver Dempsey-Proton fielded was established professional Marc Lieb.
