Jonny Baker holds a Racer Rating of 3,524, placing him at the semi-professional level; he competes among drivers who win in pro-am and one-make classes and run mid-pack among full professionals, though Baker himself did not reach the podium in his brief career. His record spans two seasons in the Star Mazda Championship from 2007 to 2008, during which he made 15 starts for Andersen Racing and finished on average in 16th place, never recording a win or podium finish.[1]

Baker's performances were generally outpaced by his regular rivals in the series. Against Alex Ardoin, Eric Freiberg, and Ron White, all semi-professional drivers in his own tier, Baker finished behind them in the majority of shared races, winning individual head-to-head contests irregularly. He faced notably stronger opposition in Dane Cameron, the 2007 Star Mazda champion and an elite professional driver at rating 5,995 with multiple top-level sportscar championships, and James Davison, a Gold-graded professional; Baker failed to finish ahead of Cameron across 12 shared races and managed only two victories over Davison in twelve encounters. Baker did occasionally beat established competitors such as Christopher Cumming and Natacha Gachnang across his career, though these were isolated results rather than patterns of competitive advantage.

Baker competed for Andersen Racing, a modest operation that fielded 14 drivers across the index with two race wins total. He retired from racing after 2008 and has not competed since.
