Nick Haye was a professional racing driver who competed in single-seater sprint racing in North America. He raced for JDC Motorsports in the Star Mazda Championship, a national-level series mixing amateur and professional competitors on road courses across the United States.[1]
Haye's indexed racing career spans two seasons from 2007 to 2008, with 13 starts and 2 podiums in the Star Mazda Championship. He finished 17th in the final championship standings in his final season of 2008.[2]
In the Star Mazda field Haye held his own against a grid that included established professionals and rising drivers. He finished ahead of Dane Cameron, the 2007 Star Mazda champion who went on to win the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech DPi and later claimed victories in multiple international endurance championships, twice over the course of their meetings. He also beat Max Chilton, who progressed to Formula 1 and a full career in IndyCar. Among regular opponents in the series, Haye ran closely matched with professional-level driver Alex Ardoin and typically finished ahead of entry-level professional Eric Freiberg.
