Toby Scheckter was a professional single-seater driver racing in Formula 3 Macau, a mixed-grade championship that ran amateur and semi-professional entrants alongside established professionals. He drove for Speedsport F3 Racing Team in his only indexed season, 1999.[1]
Scheckter made three starts in Formula 3 Macau in 1999. He regularly faced established professionals including Jenson Button, later a multiple championship winner in Formula 1 and Super GT, and Darren Manning, who went on to race in IndyCar and International Formula 3000; he finished behind both drivers consistently. He beat two established professionals in the field: Jonathan Cochet, an International Formula 3000 and Formula 3 Macau driver graded FIA Silver, and Alex Yoong, who reached Formula 1 and carried an FIA Gold grade.[2]
