Wayne Grubb was an entry-level professional racing in NASCAR Xfinity, a national single-class oval racing series that mixes amateurs with established professionals. He competed for Grubb Motorsports across four seasons from 1997 to 2000, accumulating 52 starts in the championship.[1]
Grubb finished 43rd in the 2000 Xfinity points standings in his final full season. Across his time in the series, he finished behind regular opponents Elton Sawyer and Jason Keller, both professionals with substantially more Xfinity starts and higher standing. He nonetheless completed laps against drivers of considerably stronger calibre; he finished ahead of Tony Stewart, then an established professional who had won the 1997 IndyCar championship, in four races, and beat Kevin Harvick, a two-time Xfinity champion, once.[2]
