Bobby Hillin is a professional stock car racing driver who competed in NASCAR Xfinity, the national single-class championship run on ovals and occasional road courses in the United States. He drove for MacDonald Motorsports across his 14-year career from 1986 to 2009, and also fielded his own operation, Bobby Hillin Racing, for 37 of his 115 starts.[1]
Hillin won twice in the Xfinity series and took five podiums across his 115 starts. He raced primarily on ovals, where 113 of his entries took place. His most recent season, 2009, saw him make one start before finishing 39th in the points standings. Throughout his career he was closely matched against regular opponents at his level, including professional drivers Elton Sawyer, with whom he had extensive head-to-head racing, and Phil Parsons.[2]
Hillin's record included isolated victories over drivers who would go on to substantially higher levels of competition. He finished ahead of Tony Stewart, an established professional and IndyCar champion, seven times across their meetings in the series. He also beat Joey Logano, who would become an elite professional and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, once in their single Xfinity encounter.
