Chris van der Drift is a professional sportscar and endurance racing driver rated 4,478, which places him in the professional band. He competes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia ProAm class for VSR, driving a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo in a multiclass endurance championship run across five countries. He also races in the Asian Le Mans Series for Absolute Racing, a single-class endurance series mixing amateurs with graded professionals. He holds an FIA Gold grading, the full-professional classification in sportscar racing.[1]
Van der Drift's early career ran through single-seater racing. He took five podiums in 13 Formula Renault Eurocup starts in 2006, including two wins, then competed in Formula V8 3.5 for three seasons from 2009 to 2011, collecting two podiums from 21 starts. A single appearance in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series in 2015 marked the end of his indexed activity until his return to racing in 2025. Since then he has built a sustained presence in Lamborghini single-make racing, with eight starts across the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia seasons of 2025 and 2026 yielding seven wins and eight podiums, and four starts in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Final from 2023 to 2025 producing two podiums. He won the 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia championship.[2]
In Formula V8 3.5, van der Drift raced regularly against Bertrand Baguette and Brendon Hartley, both Platinum-graded elite professionals. Baguette went on to win the 2009 championship that season and later became a Super GT champion; van der Drift finished behind him more often than ahead. He ran ahead of Hartley consistently, who would later win the 2016 World Endurance Championship LMP1 title and the 2023 HYPERCAR championship. Van der Drift also finished ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, who would become a Formula 1 driver with 257 starts and won the 2010 Formula V8 3.5 championship, on three occasions. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia field includes multiple champions and professionals across its classes; van der Drift leads the ProAm category.
