Dave Mundy was an entry-level professional racing in the Star Mazda Championship, a single-class open-wheel series run in the United States and mixing amateur through professional drivers in the same races. He competed for Mundill Racing across two seasons from 2007 to 2008, accumulating ten starts.[1]
Mundy finished twenty-first in the 2008 Star Mazda Championship standings after three rounds raced that season. Across his two years in the series, he usually finished behind his regular opponents Alex Ardoin, a professional with forty-one Star Mazda starts, and Scott Rettich, a semi-professional and 2021 SCCA Runoffs FE2 champion. He did finish ahead of John Michael Edwards, the 2008 Star Mazda champion, once over their meetings, and beat Peter Dempsey, a professional with extensive single-seater and sports car experience including twenty-six Indy NXT starts, in one race.[2]
